The Eday show is an opportunity for local residents to demonstate their skills and handiwork in a formal competition, with prizes for the best in particular categories and for the overall champion. The event is run by the community association and held in the gymnasium and community rooms of the Eday School.
The whole island pulled together and a wonderful day was had by all. The weather was good, the standard was exceptional and the number of entries was outstanding.
The show was judged in the morning and opened for all to view at 2pm Teas and home bakes were served and at 4pm after a small presentation the donated items were auctioned raising a staggering £144.35.
At 6pm everybody adjured to the beach for the Clay Pigeon shot and in the evening a dance was held, music from the Birsay Boys, a full presentation of all the trophies and certificates won through out the day and a raffle. Everybody danced and celebrated into the wee small hours.
